Lanherne Convent
Lanherne Convent is located on the site of a 6th-century Celtic monastery, dissolved in the 11th century. By 1086, the estate became the Manor of Lanherne, recorded in the Domesday Book, and later became the main residence of the Arundell family by 1360. In 1794, the estate was repurposed as a convent for Carmelite nuns from Antwerp, dedicated to St. Joseph and St. Anne, and housing a relic of the martyr Cuthbert Mayne. Today, Lanherne is a traditional Carmelite monastery that celebrates the traditional Carmelite rite.
